Our extensive inventory of carbon and alloy steel wheel blanks, coupled with our state-of-the-art CNC in-house rough and finish machining capabilities (up to 54″ in diameter), makes rush delivery and breakdown situations our specialty. Irwin Quality Through and Through

Irwin Car crane wheels, industrial wheels and sheave wheels are all produced in general accordance with standards for Heat Treatment, Chemistry and Mechanical Requirements as outlined in ASTM A-504, CMAA (70-4.13.2) and AISE (T.R. 6, 1996, 3.7 and 3.7.1) guidelines for industrial grade crane wheels, and produced from the highest grade vacuum-degassed steel.  Typical material grades include AISI C-1045, C-1055, C-1070, 4140 and 4340 steels. All of our crane and industrial wheels are normalized prior to heat treatment, undergo a proprietary hardening process, are immediately quenched, then tempered back to the stable hardness range required by the application or design.

Custom materials and hardness processes are also available for special applications.

Irwin Car crane wheels can be NDE tested upon request or as required, with UT (Ultrasonic) testing per ASTM A-388 and MT (Wet Magnetic Particle) testing per ASTM A-275.

Full QC/QA documenation packages are kept on file for every order we process and are available upon request for your Quality Control records.

Reconditioned Crane & Heavy Wheel Assemblies

In addition to our new crane and custom heavy-duty industrial wheels and wheel assemblies, the team at Irwin Car and Equipment are experts and rebuilding and refurbishing your existing wheel & axle sets.

Whether your assemblies require new axles, bearings, bearing housings or a complete overhaul, Irwin Car and Equipment can get you back into production ASAP, often at a cost far less than buying new wheel assemblies, and they will be shipped back to you fully assembled, painted, lubricated and ready to install.

Irwin is also happy to establish service / exchange programs with you on your commonly used items, to provide you with cost-effective rebuilt assemblies, stocked for your convenience, to keep your operations on track.
